Recently, the "IDC China CIO Summit - Industrial AI Leading Intelligent Manufacturing Upgrading" event hosted by IDC China was held in Shenzhen, and important awards were announced at the event: Tongwei Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Tongwei Nongfa") and SIE Information Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "SIE") jointly created the "Tongwei Nongfa Smart Factory Project", which won the award of "2025 IDC China's Future Digital Industry Leader - Supply Chain/Industrial Chain Collaborative Leader"!


The Future Digital Industry Leaders Award was established in 2021, mainly targeting industrial enterprises, manufacturing, energy, public utilities and other industries. The award judging panel comes from senior analysts, industry experts, industry leaders and investors from IDC Global and China, aiming to select and recognize outstanding projects that have achieved significant results in digitalization and intelligence and led the industry direction. The award of this joint project of Tongwei Agricultural Development and SIE not only highlights the technological innovation strength of both parties in the field of industrial software, but also marks the authoritative recognition of the project's intelligent factory solution in promoting the upgrading of digital industry.

As a leading global producer of aquatic feed and an important producer of livestock and poultry feed, Tongwei Agricultural Development adheres to the concept of "technology empowerment" and has spent five years deeply laying out the construction of intelligent factories. It has successfully built a digital ecosystem covering the entire process of feed production and achieved a breakthrough in cost reduction and efficiency improvement, setting an industry benchmark. The smart factory project restructures the production business management system with the concept of "standardization+intelligence". Based on the combination of functionality and economy, it creates a unified production business platform with evolutionary capabilities from a forward-looking perspective of "taking one step and looking at a hundred steps".


Looking back to 2020, Tongwei Agricultural Development faced multiple challenges at that time:

Technological equipment lag constraints

The production environment of feed is characterized by high dust, high temperature and humidity, which significantly reduces the stability and service life of conventional sensors and electronic devices. Due to the rigid layout of process requirements of core production line equipment, the space for renovation or installation (such as sensors and automation) is limited and the cost is extremely high. At the same time, existing equipment generally has compatibility defects, making it difficult to integrate with intelligent facilities such as IoT sensors and automation control systems, which has become a core constraint for Tongwei Agricultural Development's intelligent transformation.

Lack of standards and difficulty in collaboration

The existing systems within the enterprise (such as ERP, MES, PLC, etc.) have different data formats, forming cross domain data islands, resulting in the inability of production and operation data to support real-time decision-making; Due to the varying levels of information technology among raw material suppliers and sales teams, it is difficult to achieve full visualization of the supply chain outside the enterprise.

High pressure on investment returns

The construction of smart factories is essentially a dual reconstruction of industrial software systems and physical production equipment. This leapfrog technological leap is facing long-term ROI pressure for Tongwei Agricultural Development, and it is difficult to quickly improve efficiency or save costs in the short term. The low gross profit margin of the agricultural industry is also difficult to digest the investment in intelligent transformation that often amounts to millions of dollars.


In the process of breaking through the aforementioned difficulties, the intelligent factory solution needs to integrate various application technologies to ensure smooth flow of data between the underlying infrastructure, middle-level business, and high-level data at all levels, without breakpoint connection, and to ensure the consistency of data at all levels, laying a solid foundation for the full release of data value. This undoubtedly places higher demands on the overall design capability of the plan.

Based on the current situation, plan for the future.


The Tongwei Agricultural Development Intelligent Factory project is guided by enterprise strategy and management goals, with supply chain digitization and implementable delivery as the core. It deeply integrates the SIE Valley God MBM supply chain/industrial chain manufacturing collaborative digital intelligence solution, and is implemented according to the strategy of pilot first and then promotion.


In response to the business collaboration needs of upstream customers, the intelligent factory project has built an integrated marketing collaboration system of "production planning inventory management factory logistics", which has achieved an 80% reduction in user ordering cycle, a 100% fulfillment rate of orders, a 50% increase in product outbound efficiency, and ensured transaction security through digital control of capital flow, gaining high recognition from users.


By building a procurement collaboration platform that integrates external supplier systems with core systems such as internal intelligent logistics, quality control, intelligent warehousing, and ERP, we have achieved a direct coverage rate of 80% of supplier systems, achieving a full process visual control of purchase order generation, shipment, logistics tracking, and quality inspection and warehousing, improving the efficiency of purchase order processing and effectively ensuring smooth production.


The smart factory is based on marketing, procurement and supply, and ERP system architecture, combined with key hardware equipment upgrades, to build a full chain digital operation platform: by integrating planning, production, materials, quality, IoT, and on-site logistics modules, and developing mobile applications and customized hardware that are adapted to work scenarios based on the characteristics of the factory's business, it achieves paperless operations and business transparency control throughout the entire process, improves data flow efficiency, and provides data analysis and reporting functions to empower business optimization and decision-making.


As of now, the Tongwei Agricultural Development Intelligent Factory project has been promoted to more than 60 domestic and nearly 10 overseas subsidiaries. All business functions are centrally deployed by the headquarters, and each factory focuses on specific task execution. The successful practice of this project provides a reference and replicable intelligent transformation path for enterprises with "centralized control of the group+independent operation of subsidiary companies". For Tongwei Agricultural Development, this project is not only an iterative application of new technologies, but also a comprehensive reconstruction of organizational capabilities and supply chain manufacturing collaboration models, building a unique technological moat for Tongwei in the wave of industrial digitization.
